Toshiba has released details of its new gaming/entertainment laptop that uses Intel’s performance Core i7 processor and carries the name Qosmio.A red beast of a machine, the Qosmio X305-Q725 is stacked with the new low cost Intel Quad Core Q9000 processor along with hybrid storage and a powerful NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GTX GPU that can handle all of today’s hottest games. All of this power comes in a chassis that’s a bit bulky but that has some good-looking styling and curves, too.
The Toshiba Qosmio x305 notebook was spotted doing what it does best, playing games on the Windows operating system. What else would you expect from a Microsoft event? Notice the four sweet looking Harman Kardon stereo speakers located at each corner around the keyboard. The features of the notebook are impressive as you can see from the list below.
- 3GHz Intel Core 2 Extreme dual-core Processor
- NVIDIA Geforce 9800M GTX graphics with 1GB RAM
- Up to 4GB DDR3 RAM (This is a Montevina platform)
- Dual 200GB 7200rpm hard drives
- 17in 1440×900 native resolution (WSXGA+)
- HDMI and S/PDIF outputs
- 4.1-channel Harmon Kardon speakers
Like many desktop replacement systems, the Qosmio X305-Q725’s battery life won’t even come close to the battery life you’ll get with an ultraportable or a netbook, but that’s not the point. Most users who are interested in a desktop replacement system require power, and they know that they’ll have to stay tethered to an outlet to get it. Even though you’ll be restricted by a power cable most of the time, notebooks such as the Qosmio X305-Q725 are much more portable than any desktop system.
The system also includes a Blu-ray drive with supporting HDMI-CEC port, Harmon Kardon premium speakers and Dolby Home Theater. The choice of storage to include with the X500 is unusual, but welcomed. You not only get a 320GB 7200rpm hard drive, but a 64GB SSD drive included as well giving you a choice between speed and capacity.
Toshiba has thought about the keyboard and mouse too and has included an LED backlit keyboard, numeric pad, and touchpad. The touchpad has multitouch for gesture input such as pinching. The casing is Omega Black with red chrome.
